Loving Who God Made You To Be

Hello there lovelies!

Today we have a guest post from my friend Cori. She was one of the first people to volunteer to write a blog post for this new blog post series I wanna do throughout the year and I LOVE what she has to say.

I hope you all receive some encouragement from this lovely gals words of wisdom.


Well, it’s a new year again and our social media is filled with “New year new me” posts and new years resolutions that will last a couple of weeks.  Now don’t get me wrong, I don’t see anything wrong with trying to better yourself, but when its all about me, me, me I think we might just be missing the point. My resolution is to grow closer to Christ and to love who He made me.
        The world tells us that it is all about you. You do you. You only live once. I agree to make the most of your life but when your life revolves around you and you only that isn’t exactly what God has planned. God tells us to live humbly and to always put your neighbor before yourself. He tells us to give a homeless man the clothes off our backs if he doesn’t have any. He tells us to pray for our enemies and love them no matter the harm they’ve caused you.  That may not be very easy, but that is what we are called to. There is a difference between loving who God made you and being a self centered jerk
        Now my life hasn’t been that easy. I was sexually abused, I’ve harmed myself and did for many years, and I even attempted suicide. Growing up I’ve had major self esteem problems.  I would look at myself in the mirror and hate everything about my reflection. I would cry at night because I wasn’t good enough for society or even myself. It wasn’t until recently, actually, that I realized  I wasn’t living how God had planned. It took a mental hospital being waved over my head for me to finally get my act together.  My point is this: God made you who you are for a reason and you are perfectly and wonderfully made. He planned out every inch of you, beautifully, inside of your mother and God, the God of the universe, does not make mistakes. (Psalms 139:13-18)
        Now I pray that in this new year you learn to love yourself for who God made you. Not for what the world wants you to be. Serve your Lord with all your heart soul and mind and love every bit of yourself because the creator of everything there ever was and is to come made you and that is pretty amazing if you think about it.
    Now I still deal with all of these things today. I am not saying that life is gonna be a bundle of joy on a sunny day. Life sucks, there’s no other way to put it, but it is so much easier to have hope and to love who God made you to be then to dwell on things and to try to be this perfect person society makes the standard out to be. You will never be perfect. You will never be “Good enough” , but you know what? That’s why Christ died for us. So that in Him we are good enough and always will be. God doesn’t look at us for all the bad things we have done.  He looks at us as perfect, just as He made us perfectly.

“Lord help me to love who You made me to be. Help me serve you in any way that i can in this new year. I pray that in the new year i grow spiritually and grow to love others more than myself, thank you for all these blessings, i pray that my self esteem will be high this year. In your name I pray , Amen.”

Hello lovelies!

Sorry I haven’t posted at all this month life has been crazy and all over the place but I’m hoping to explain some of that here and my post plans for the new year!



So the new year has come and gone and its almost February! Like what?! My apologies on the lack of posting. I’ll explain why, but hopefully there wont be so many apology posts this year due to lack of posting. Part of the reasons is I don’t feel like apologizing anymore.

Not that I don’t love you lovely readers or that I don’t care but in the past I’ve missed posting and torn myself down for it. I don’t want to be doing that anymore so my blogging is going to be a little more relaxed this year.

I have a goal to try and write one blog post a week on top of my busy schedule but at the same time I don’t want to beat myself up every time I don’t post! The reason being because I started blogging because I had (and have) things to say and it was fun to express it in that way. My passion and love for my blog hasn’t changed but with my more busy schedule this year, posting will be less frequent for sure as I have other things that (sadly) hold a higher priority over blogging.

WITH THAT SAID! I still have some exciting things for this blog. So lets talk about exciting things because I’m not stopping posting entirely! Just gotta adapt my blog schedule to my busy life.

On the blog this year I want to turn this around from a book review blog (as I started to do when I changed the name) to more of a personal, thought sharing, encouragement blog. There will still be book reviews or discussions on my writing and music and stuff every once in a while for sure but not as often.

I want to focus on not only encouraging and building up you guys but also growing myself in the process. I would argue that self-love and self-care for women is especially hard and I’m seeing that more and more each day. I personally am tired of looking in the mirror and calling myself ‘good enough’ or not liking what I see at all and I want to change that. This year I want to go on a journey to change how I feel about myself and my body and take time to grow closer to God.

Spend more time doing life. And I want to encourage others through this process.

To help me kick this off I have asked some wonderful people (girls and guys alike) on my Facebook page and twitter to help me out and guest post for me. (if you wanna join in too, contact me!) Speak whats on their hearts. Tell me about their struggles and what they are doing to turn those into positivity, self-love, and growth!

On top of that I already have a lot of exciting things in my life in 2017 that I can’t wait to share as they happen!

Its 2016 and I’m back! (Maybe to as much as my calendar says I will be because Final and Diploma Exams and Life. :/ )

Did you miss me moriarty

So I already missed not putting up a book review because I didn’t actually have one written yet…so this will be replacing it….and I know its not Monday either. BUT OH WELL. Doesn’t matter. As long as I am here and posting. I’ve lately been extremely discourage with anything relating to my novel writing lately so this year I’m really just gonna focus on only 3 projects as opposed to messing around with all ideas at once. I’ve also been deciding what stories I even find worth keeping BUT in light of that I’m gonna be joining The Beautiful Books Link-Up talking about writing goals for the new year!



What were your writing achievements last year?

Oh my…well I had lots of achievements last year that didn’t happen. If I sat here and listed them all we would be here a while…

Tell us about your top priority writing project for this year?

My top priority project this year is going to be a new novel I started the other night. I’ve had the idea floating around my head for month now but I really just started to develop it a few days ago as a last attempt to see if I will be writing novels anymore. So I’m kinda taking it very slowly and carefully because I’m at a hard point in my life right now with writing and other things so I’m trying not to get frustrated with everything. I’m really sticking to it for a friend and I’m giving writing (novels not blogging) another try.

But with that said, let me tell you about my writing project. I do not have much at all but I have a tiny couple sentence description summarizing the characters, a collage of the character shipping cuteness, and a Pinterest board. So its a start.

Screaming Silence

Isn’t this collage to cute?! I’m in love with my characters of this story, ok? Ok now character summary thing:

The story of a quiet girl screaming in a void known as an ignorant, careless family and she just wants to be heard…and her screaming in silence is heard by the most unlikeliest of people; a tattooed, piercing covered pet store employee who is searching for someone to love the real him. The one hiding beneath the tattoos and piercings.


as I said, not much about the plot in that little description thing, but its a start! 😛 But this will be the project (out of three) that will probably have most of my attention this year.



List 5 areas you’d like to work the hardest to improve this year.

  1. Work on my editing. I’m not the best at editing so I really need to improve on that this year as one of my novels I’m gonna be focusing on edits this year
  2. Describing characters. I cannot describe characters very well and its frustrating cause I have a perfect image in my head and I want to tell people what these characters look like but then it comes across as tell-y so…
  3. Work on showing things in my writing as opposed to telling them. Over this last year and a bit I’ve improved a little but It still needs some work.

I can’t really think of anything else so I’m only listing three…but oh well!

Are you participating in any writing challenges?

I don’t think so. Right now I don’t need any challenges I just need to learn to love writing again and re-learn that its ok for things not to be perfect and messy. I feel writing challenges will add a pressure I don’t need.

What’s your critique partner/beta reader situation like and do you have plans to expand this year?

Its this whole big dramatic deal that I don’t really feel like discussing….but lets just say finding a beta reader who will actually stick around and help me out is EXTREMELY difficult and frustrating.

Do you have plans to read any writer-related books this year? Or are there specific books you want to read for research?

None I can think of off the top of my head, but some may very well come up.

Pick one character you want to get to know better, and how are you going to achieve this?

ALL OF THEM! How I’m gonna do that, I don’t know yet…. Any suggestions.

Do you plan to edit or query, and what’s your plan of attack?

I’m taking a break from querying my novel this year. I really just need to read it over again and decide if its worth it to keep burying or not. As for editing, I have my novel Aimlessly Wandering that I’m finishing edits/re-writes of the ending on so I need to finish that. My plan of attack is to try and work on it without crying cause its a mess LOL probably consume lotsa chocolate and get fat too.

Toni Morrison once said, “If there’s a book that you want to read, but it hasn’t been written yet, then you must write it.” What are the books that you want to see more of, and what “holes” do you think need filling in the literary world?

I honestly have no idea…. Can you tell I have no idea what I’m doing anymore?


What do you hope to have achieved by the end of 2016?

The goal I hope to achieve is NOT quitting writing and getting at least 40k in my new novel. Other than that I got nothing. Keeping it small this year.

Announcement for the New Year! (2015!)

Hello My Lovely Readers!

and Happy New Years! My apologies on not doing a post soon after New Years (well I guess it still is) I have been working on edits for ‘Holding On To Grace‘ (still a couple things to fix) and indulging in binge watching Teen Wolf…and by Binge Watching I mean, the second/almost third week into christmas break I started watching Season 1 of Teen Wolf and I’m 5 episodes away from starting Season 4… I may have a post a little later today, but I thought it would be fair to let you know that over these next 21 days or so, there may be less posts on my end due to the fact that I HAVE to study and study hard for my Math Finals (yuck) and I’m not doing so well in the class as is so there will be lots of cramming these next  couple weeks.

That’s right! My script for a mini movie is almost done and then it’s to filming! At this rate, I may or may not be able to write a couple scripts!

Resolutions For The NEW Year!

Hello Readers!

I am back once again! Sorry for just leaving you all hanging. Why did I do such a terrible thing? Well…I /planned/ to do posts all last week but Christmas things and Teen Wolf Season 1 kind of got in the way of that…Anyways! Over the course of this week (when I can find time between Teen Wolf and Doctor Who Marathons and studying for finals for Math) I will kinda be doing some fun recap type posts (from the year and the holidays and such) AND also do a peek into plans for the blog and my reading list for 2015!! WOOH!

So to start for today, I am going to be doing a 2015 New Years Writing and Blog Resolution Post! Sound good?

Alright! Let’s do this!

1. Write at least 4 of the 6 novels I plan to write this year.

So yes, I have six novels planned that I would like to complete this year (Need some way to catch up on all the ideas building up in my idea bank) but my goal is to at least finish four of them. So we will see what happens there, but with Camp NaNoWriMo and regular NaNoWriMo I think I could probably pull it off.

2. Do some fun Blog Giveaways

Always wanted to do one! Just…needed something to giveaway.

3. More Guest Posts!!

WOOH! That would be tons of fun. Now I don’t mean guest posts from authors or anything but also just from you lovely readers*. Or I at least want to engage with my readers more in my posts and maybe get your ideas and opinions and such and compile it into a guest post. We shall see.

4. Interview everyday teenage and young adult writers who are still working hard on their manuscripts.

I was gonna do this series where I interviewed all my writer friends back in the fall/early November but that just didn’t happen BUT I do still have the interviews meaning I’m going to do them.**

Now for more writing resolutions… 5. Write my own mini movie/book trailer script. (And film it)

A lot of you may not know this but I have ALWAYS wanted to be a movie director of sorts and to also write a movie script of some sort. I think it’s a great skill to have and would be fun to do so I am adding that to my list.

6. Compile a small book of my own poetry.

I’ve recently picked up poetry again and  am absolutely loving it! I think it would be fun to write a small little book of sorts and compile a book.

7. Work (throughout the year) on gathering info and stories from a family member so I can write a story.

I have wanted to do this for about a year now and this year, I’m gonna do it! I’m gonna approach a family member and just hear more about their life and childhood and get it all set to write the story in the New Years of 2016 (yeah I’m thinking really far ahead)

8. Find an Agent.

Still working on touching up my Contemporary novel ‘Holding On To Grace’ but soon I’m gonna be on the hunt for an agent! Here is to hoping that goes well! *fingers crossed*


9. Have a full novel published on Wattpad

So, you know that Sci-Fi I was gonna post on Wattpad over Christmas? Yeah well that didn’t happen so, over the course of the year (so I have time to edit like crazy) I will be uploading it. When I will start to upload it I don’t know but once I start I can assure you I will be on a roll!


10. Go to a writers conference!

Never been to one, but I would like to go to one so that is definitely on my New Years Resolution list thingy…I WILL go to one this year!

My 2014 Reading List

Happy New Year!!

So, last year, I failed in my reading.

I think I read like 10-15 books. #readingfail

Oh well.

But this year I’m gonna read more books than that.

Besides. New Year=New Books, am I right?

So I’m starting a list of books I’m gonna read this year. I was going to put it here but since I plan to add a few more (most likely) and mark off what I’ve finished I decided to make a page instead 😉 SO you guys can check it out there and I’m ALWAYS looking for book suggestions so feel free to share your suggestions on here or the page or whatever 😉 and who knows. You might find something you want to read in my list of books to read 😉

3 New Years (Writing) Resolutions

Okay so. I’ve been trying to think of some writing related New Years resolutions and I have come up with three that I wanted to share. Yes, only three…But considering I’ve never actually stuck to it and completed even ONE New Years revolution before this is MORE than enough…

SO here they are:

1. Have my novel ‘Unbreakable’ ready for querying by this time next year.

2. Start journalling/blogging more 

3. Finish the first draft of My NaNo Novel (which I did not finish during NaNo. I DID complete NaNo but the story isn’t done yet.)

So those are my writing related New Years resolutions! How about y’all? What are your writing related New Years resolutions? (it can just be one or twenty 😉 )

End of Year Book and Writing Insanity Linkup



The Notebook Sisters is doing a blog linkup as part of their end-of-year celebration and giveaway.  I’ve answered a few of the questions on their list for writers.  Thanks for reading, and Merry Christmas!

1. How many books did you write this year? (Estimate your overall wordcount for us too!)

I have completed one novel this year (titled Unbreakable) and I am almost done one of my others that is called Pebbles and Pirouettes (I have NaNoWriMo to thanks for that 😉 ) (My estimated word count for both books total would be about currently 150k words)

2. Tell us about you favourite Male Character you wrote this year!

Oh my. This is a hard one to answer. I have two of my buddy’s that are tied for my favourite…. I guess for now I’ll say that overall (between the two MC’s that are tied for my favourite) is Kenton (from Unbreakable)

3. And how about your favourite Female Character?

Yikes….Okay for this one I’ll say Dance (from Pebbles and Pirouettes.) This is a hard one to answer 😛

4. Can you introduce us to some awesome sidekick(s)?

I’m gonna say right now that one of my favourites is probably Finley. She’s really smart, sweet, friendly and can get a little goofy. Overall she’s just plain old awesome (her awesomeness cannot even be described on this post 😛 )

5. Any romances in your writing? Which couple didn’t go together as expected?

There is almost always some romances in my novel. I would say that though I planned for Ghost and Dance to be a couple, I didn’t plan for them to become a couple the way they did……okay that or Finley getting a crush on my ‘Antagonist’ character in Unbreakable. I had to end that because…yeah that would have been bad…..

6. What’s your favourite Pinterest Board for one of your books? Can we see some pics for the book they inspire?

I have a board for every single book I am currently writing and I’d be glad to share some of the pictures 😀 I think my favourite board is for my novel (that I am Co-authoring) called Injustice (sorry for jumping novels on you guys but if you don’t already know I’m currently writing like…..8 or 9…)





7. What challenges did you compete in this year? (NaNos? Personal goals? Challenges run by other blogs?) And how did you go?

My goals were to finish NaNo and to complete one full novel. TA-DA! I did it! WOHOO! I completed NaNo with 50,500 words and my other novel I completed with a little over 70k I believe

9. Epic quote(s) you wrote?

This is a quote from my character Ghost (from my NaNo Novel) and someone asked why he doesn’t help himself for a change and this was his epic-ly awesome reply: I try so hard to help others because I have no idea how to help myself.

10. Last word from your manuscript(s)! Go!

My only completed manuscript is Unbreakable so here is the last word: Happy 

SO I guess you could say this story has a ‘Happy’ ending to it. (okay THAT was cheesy XP )

11. First sentences from your manuscript(s)!

From Pebbles and Pirouettes: “I can do things with my body most people can’t, I guess thats why I was helpful to them, no wait, to him”

From Unbreakable: “We looked like lost puppies looking for food and shelter. Yet…In a way we were.”

12. Show us your favourite funny scene!

:O okay…..let me find it now…. Okay. This is from Pebbles and Pirouettes. 😀 This is basically all three of my characters in a nut shell XD (and trust me I have TONS of other funny scenes 😛 ):

I moaned as I spun around on the desk chair. I was bored out of my mind….and I’d only been in this room five minutes.

“Why don’t you go do something else if you are bored?” Ghost suggested.

“But thats just too simple, to get up and go do something else.” I complained.

“You are strange.” Dean said turning to look at me, I stuck my tongue out at him in reply.

“I’m with my brother on this one.” Ghost said typing something into the computer system, not taking his eyes off of the screens.

“Hey! Boyfriends are supposed to be nice to their girlfriends.” I pouted, crossing my arms. “and that’s not nice.”

Ghost turned to look at me and just smiled. 

I stood up and decided to pace back and forth across the room but that soon became boring. So I decided to do some back handsprings across the room instead.

“What are you doing?” Dean asked.

“Back handsprings, cause pacing is for wimps.” I replied. “and yes, I’m strange, you don’t ned to say it again.”

“Yeah, well who does back handsprings back and forth across the room instead of pacing?” Dean asked as Ghost continued with what he was setting up on the computer.

“Ever heard of sugar, tiny?” I grinned

“I’m never letting you have sugar again.” Ghost muttered.

13. Show us a snippet of dialogue you’re proud of.

“What’s wrong?” I asked

He shook his head. “Nothing.”

“Liar.” I smiled slightly. “What’s wrong?”

“I don’t want to talk about it.” He turned back to the book. Then it hit me.

I wanted to leave…Leave Demitrix…Leave him.

“I’m sorry…I-I just want to go home.” I really did. Didn’t I? 

“Why?” He asked

“I-I-I just-”

“It’s something I did, isn’t it?”

“No!” I exclaimed “Why would you think that?”

“Maybe because thats the only reason I can really think of why you would want to leave.”

“It’s not you.”

“Then stay.” 

I shook my head. “I can’t.”

“Why not? You love me, don’t you?”


“Then stay.”

“Thats not fair.”

“Why not?” He started to sound frustrated.

aaaaaand that’s it! (if I showed you anymore there would be spoilers so…. 😉 ) This is by far my favourite bit of dialogue between my two characters because it was more of a realization that their relationship wasn’t as perfect as they thought because my one character wanted to go home which would result in leaving the other. SO….yeah 😛 idk it’s just my favourite…Just like smiling. Smiling’s my favourite. (Hey, it’s nearing Christmas time you need a quote from Elf… 😀 )

14. Tell us about some funny typos or writer-bloopers you’ve had this year!

No really funny typos (unlike some pretty epic ones that my friends have had XD) But I did have one time where I was writing while my family was sitting in the next room watching a movie and yeah…. I was tired and I ended up quoting some of the movie. I swear that went on for like, half an hour XP (that was not helpful towards upping my word count XD)

15. What has writing taught you about yourself this year?

That if I keep going and push through the really hard scenes to write, or major plot holes etc etc. I’ll be able to finish and I will reach my goal of becoming a published author.

16. Best piece of writing advice you learnt this year?

It’s one of the more simple ones (and my mom actually told me many times when I was nearing the end of NaNo and behind) she just said: It’s not about the word count, It’s about the story. If you worry too much about the word count your story could end up being a terrible mess you don’t want to have to edit or deal with later.

(My mother is so wise ^_^ ) but that is my BEST piece of writing advice this year.

17. Anything big on the horizons for next year? Plans to query? Publish? Edit?

I have plans to edit Unbreakable like a crazy chicken then hopefully in a few years either send out query letters or self publish (not too sure yet if I’m gonna self publish or do it traditionally.)

18. Tell us a bit about a book you’re super excited to write in 2014!

I am super excited to work on my novel titled: To Jaime With Love I can’t wait. I’ve got the plot and characters ready to go but I just need to hold out until the new years to finish up some stuff 😛
