Book-Tube

Hello Readers!

Now I’m sure I’ve mentioned it before, but I have a book related youtube channel! But today I kinda wanna officially share it with you!

BookTube-logo-full_color

I posted my first video on my youtube channel a year ago with a writing related video (and I may do more of those in the future too) and looking back its a pretty terrible video BUT for my first youtube video its not too bad? ANYWAYS. Since then I’ve been posting videos on and off about book things and all that fun stuff and I keep coming up with ideas for more videos and its a lot of fun. (Yes, this whole post is self promo…but I mean you’re already on my blog so… 😉 )

I plan on doing some more vlogging and stuff during some every day life/dun event stuff on the channel BUT I’m posting today not to promise those videos cause sometimes life happens BUT to ask a question and just tell you a bit about my channel.

You can access my channel here: The Librarian Files Youtube Channel

So I’ve recently done a fun video where I dance around to songs with books. I felt pretty stupid doing it but it was also a LOT of fun.  I’ve also done an unboxing for The Bookish Box and hope to do more in the future when I have money. 😛 I’ve also recently got some books for review from BookLook Bloggers and so I may be posting some reviews as well. But basically I’ve just got a couple random videos trying out some different things and I’m quite happy with how it turned out. BUT my question for you is this:

What kind of book related youtube videos would YOU like to see on my channel? (Collaboration ideas would also be super cool! Then I’ll have to find people to Collab with but thats just minor details XD ) I would LOVE to hear some ideas of your favourite kind of book related youtube videos to watch. Do you like book hauls? Reviews? Unboxings? Collabs? Bookish Skits? Videoing my trips to the bookstore? What do you want to see? give me any ideas and I’ll give them a shot!

(Like seriously. I’m graduating this summer so I’ll have time to actually do this stuff! )

So yeah thats kinda my post for today 😀  I have a book review of Me Before You by JoJo Moyes  coming soon! So keep an eye out for that!

Until next time!

BookLook Bloggers

Hello Lovelies!

Just popping in to talk about something called BookLook Bloggers. Basically BookLook Bloggers is a website where, once you have a certain amount of blog followers, you can request books (physical copies and ebooks) for review. Pretty cool right?

Something even cooler (yeah yeah, I know thats not used properly) is that I finally applied today and got accepted!

excited

I kept meaning to apply for a while now but have been crazy busy!  But now I finally just sat down and did it and already I’ve requested some paper back books to read! So, it will be a little while before they come (3-4 weeks cause I’m in Canada but YES they ship worldwide!) but by then I should have life together somewhat and I’ll be almost done school at that point which means REVIEWS AND BOOK READING ALL OVER THE PLACE!

….Or maybe. I know it will for sure be more often because I’ll be free from the clutches of High School. From there I’ll be working but minor details my friends, minor details.

Is this something you’re interested in and want to check out? Well you can click the link I provided above or (hopefully if this works) click this blog button and it should take you to the website.

I review for BookLook Bloggers
At this point I’m off to my nannying job but I just had to come tell you all because I’m excited! I’ll let you know what books I requested in another post 😉

Until Next time!

ABOUT THE BOOKcastle of sighs new cover
Castle of Sighs
Author: Jennifer Murgia
Release Date: September 15th, 2015
Publisher: Spencer Hill Press

SYNOPSIS:
In this sequel to FOREST OF WHISPERS, Some secrets cannot be kept—in life or in death. Months have passed since Rune has heard a single whisper from her long-dead mother, the great witch of Bavaria. But the absence of one evil has only made room for another.
After rightfully inheriting her ancestral home, Pyrmont Castle, Rune settles into a quiet life taking care of two orphans left in the wake of the terrible witch hunt that claimed dozens of lives in the nearby village. As the days grow colder, the castle’s secrets beckon and Rune finds herself roaming where no one has set foot in a long time. In the bowels of the fortress is a locked room full of memories that hang like cobwebs—shelves stacked with jars, strange specimens, putrid liquids, and scrolls of spells. Rune is undeniably drawn to what she finds there, and she begins to dabble in the possibilities of magic, hoping to find a cure for the strangeness overwhelming the castle.
As secrets unspool, the delicate thread of Rune’s world is threatened when she realizes the key may lie in the dark forest she once called home and the boy she thought she knew

ADRIANA GABRIELLE’S REVIEW

What a wonderfully chilling sequel to Forest of Whispers!!

This book gave me a crazy case of paranoia related feels and many chills. There were many times I would actually glance over my shoulder just because the chills I got from this book are simply unreal. If you want a good Halloween read with witches and ghosts, this is your book.
I’m still just as in love with the characters as I was in book one. One element I loved in this story wasn’t the creepiness of the story but the stronger element of mystery. I liked how even though not always in the spotlight that sense of mystery remained in the novel and I feel it just added to the creepiness and suspense of the whole witches, plagues, ghosts and other horrors much more than with Forest of Whispers. I applaud Jennifer Murgia for another chilling, brilliantly written sequel.

PRAISE FOR FOREST OF WHISPERS
“Murgia’s dual narration makes this historical fantasy a compelling read. The plot-driven text quickly moves the story forward, and the vivid descriptions of 17th-century southwestern Germany pull readers in . . .  the pacing and narrative are absorbing. A solid novel for fans of historical fantasy that are looking for a fast-paced, action-filled tale.” ~ SCHOOL LIBRARY JOURNAL

“FOREST OF WHISPERS drew me in from the very first page! Rune is a capable and empathetic heroine who had me rooting for her from the start. Fans of witch and rune-lore will enjoy this darkly woven tale.” ~Amalie Howard, author of critically acclaimed Waterfell, The Almost Girl, and Alpha Goddess, a Spring 2014 Kids’ INDIE NEXT title.

Top Ten Tuesday || My Top Ten Favourite Book Heroines

Hello Readers!

It’s once again time for another Top Ten Tuesday post! For those of you who don’t know what Top Ten Tuesday is, it’s a link-up done by The Broke and the Bookish and you are free to join in! You can check it out here 🙂

Finally made my own cover pic for it *heehee*

Finally made my own cover pic for it *heehee*

So, today’s post is my Top Ten Favourite Book Heroines! (Seems like lots of people are doing over a certain genre but I think I’m just gonna go with overall favourites and see what happens.)

1. Nancy Drew from Carolyn Keen’s Nancy Drew Series

Weren’t expecting that one, were ya? Heehee well, it’s true. I LOVE Nancy Drew. I still read the books and listen to audio books and everything. (One of the few audio books I actually like)

Nancy Drew

2. Melissa Rollins from Laura L. Smith’s Skinny

I really loved Melissa’s character in Skinny.(She was also seen a little bit in the books Hot and Angry also) I really love her character a lot 😀

1417372288-2

3. Srilani from Kathrese Mckee’s Mardan’s Mark

I loved Srilani’s character! Such a tough cookie but a total sweetie at points too. I don’t know what it is about her character exactly, but she is definitely one of my favourite characters. Such a strong character (in a realistic way) and just pretty awesome.

Mardans-Mark-3-D

4. Katniss Everdeen from Suzanne Collins The Hunger Games

Good old Katniss! 😀 Seriously though, I love Katniss. Such a strong, realistic character who sacrificed so much. She was such an amazing character. With good reason is she on my Top Ten List.

hunger games

5. Elizabeth Bennet from Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice

I mean, hello. She’s Elizabeth Bennet. Whats not to like?

Jane Austen

6. Yannah from C.F Barrows The Follower

I absolutely love Yannah’s character! Like so much! 😀

Follower

7. Talia Vanderbilt from Rajdeep Paulus’s Swimming Through Clouds

Oh my goodness. What an amazing character. Such a sweetie who’s been through a lot. Love her!

17904531

8. Catherine Morland from Jane Austen’s Northanger Abbey

I love this character’s imagination. Totally fascinated by the uniqueness of Catherine’s character.

northanger-abbey

9. Hannah from Laura L. Smith’s It’s Complicated

I feel like I really relate to this character a lot. She’s kinda just your average girl who’s life is fairly ‘normal’ I guess you could say. Anyways! I’m always looking for the closest representation of me in a book character, and I would say she is the closest yet. 😀 I love Hannah a lot actually 😀

It's Complicated

10. Rune from Jennifer Murgia’s Forest of Whispers

18506004

Bonus: Hermione Granger from J.K Rowling’s Harry Potter Series

So, I didn’t count this as one of my 10 because I have this thing where so far I have only read the first (and part of the second) book in the series thus far so…I don’t know if I quite qualify as a fan just yet.

Little Switch In The Schedule

Hello Readers!

Due to the realization that I hardly sleep anymore I have decided to use my time wisely in the wee hours of the morning to prewrite posts, read books and all that sort of lovely-ness instead of lying in bed doing absolutely nothing….A good example of what I will now be doing with time is what I did this morning which went something like this:

1.Cry because I’m so dang tired. (Okay I’m kidding but moral of the story is that I was, and still am, tired)

2. Realize my friend would be awake at 3AM so I text her. (Gotta love different timezones)

3. Realize that ‘The Maze Runner’ is sitting beside me unfinished and waiting to be finished.

4. Finish reading said novel by 5am

5. Spend the next hour getting hyped up that I am going to see ‘The Maze Runner’ on Friday night and finally watching the movie trailer for the first time (and *cough* fangirling over the cast of attractive men *cough*) and I may or may not have spent a bit of freak out time on twitter.

Screen Shot 2014-12-09 at 10.35.51 AM

Shoutout to Cait from paperfury.com haha 😛

6. Once that was done I then spent my time prewriting blogposts (and a review on The Maze Runner) and (I swear I am going somewhere with this post!) then I grabbed my three calendars off the wall, all for the month of December, and tried to sort out my posts for the blogs I post frequently for.

In result I ended up drawing my own calendar and therefor switching a couple things around so I spread out how often I was posting throughout the week XD So yeah. Little update on what I came up with at 6 this morning XD haha.

Share The Love posts will still be on Mondays (and every other week)

Top Ten Tuesday posts will be taking over for Novel Time posts on Tuesdays.

Novel Time posts will now be on Thursdays instead of Tuesdays.

Music Mania posts will remain on Fridays as well 🙂

Kiddo Review posts are coming! I just gotta get reading some of those books haha 😛 When they are done, they will be posted on Wednesday (once a month)

So as you can see a tiny switch in the schedule here but all tons of fun stuff! An even amount of Fangirl opportunities, Bookish stuff, Music and Writing! Wooh!

Along with that, I want to ask you lovely readers something! Is there anything you would like to see more of me posting? More book review and fangirling stuff? More writing? Sneak peaks into little bits of my writing? I’m posting a poll below and feel free to vote because I want to know what you, my lovely readers, want to see!

So, now that thats done I am gonna go about my day running around like a sleep deprived, sugar high hamster….

Until Next Time!
